In my eyes, things all worked out in the end. After all the mind maps, sketches, sessions practicing, trips to guitar center, hours building a website, and figuring out how to make playing an instrument interactive for an entire class with only one instrument, I feel—based on much positive feedback—that I achieved the assignment goal. When the project was finished, a wave of relief flooded over me, and I knew I had given the assignment all that I could, to the best of my abilities.

I only received on real piece of constructive criticism in my feedback which gave me something to think of for my next project. I focused a lot on the big ideas and broke things down was much as I could but I stopped there. The quality of some of the things I made were not as high as they could have been. I should pay more attention to details because they take a good project and really push it the extra mile. I did have some people take off stars in their evaluations, but with no critique at the bottom, it’s difficult to know how to interpret that. I’ve decided to take that feedback with a grain of salt and fix the things I can.

While my passion for music was evident and gave my presentation a very alive and upbeat vibe, I was envious of those people who tried something out of the box. Walking on walls isn’t the most practical skill but it immediately grabbed people’s attention because it was different. I’m not jealous of her choice, and I don’t wish that I had thought of it instead. I wish that I had had the courage to think about what the broadest limitations of the skills were instead of looking at the ideas I already had to see if they fit the mold. This is art school; we should be more creative and free thinking, right?

The process is complicated, but it starts with picking a good topic. From that topic, you have to choose the best way to research and then organize that research. Then how do you share your findings with other. Deceptively simple, this formula is forever changing and is never the same for any two projects.
